Are you prepared for IE10 or will your website cease to function?

If your website is built in ‘Flash’, has elements of ‘Flash’, a Flash Gallery or worse has a ‘Flash’ menu then you are or should be aware that your website does not function fully or at all on iPads. Apple took the decision not to support ‘Flash’ and as a result sites that use the technology don’t work on their systems. For some businesses the decision has been not to worry about it for now as it’s just iPads.

OK how about the growing number of users that are accessing your site via their iPhone smart phones? Those can’t use flash either.

Finally, but what if it was not just iPads and iPhones? What if around 36% of all users on the Internet could not view your site, parts of your site or navigate your site at all because it’s built in Flash?

Well it’s going to happen as Microsoft have announced that IE10 will not be supporting ‘Flash’ and if even 30% of current IE users update to IE10 then they won’t be viewing your ‘Flash’ website or elements of it! That’s a lot of people and businesses!

IE10 is due for launch first half of 2012 so if you have not looked at your strategy for site re-development I would certainly start planning and implementing it now.
