The importance of searches via mobile devices

mobile1searchengineland.com recently published figures stating that by the end of 2012 22% of all searches will be conducted via a mobile device, with the figure set to rise quite significantly over the coming years as the likes of Blackberry, Apple and so forth all continually improve on and release new mobile devices that users become more and more reliant on.

The problem is that many websites aren't compatible with mobile devices. This can range from simple things as having flash animations (which all Apple products don't support) to more complex issues of having a complicated navigation structure.

The best way of maintaining all the features your current site supports whilst users finding and being able to access your site is to create a specifically designed mobile website, by this we mean a very simplified/scaled down version of your current website. There would be no dropdown menus, or even anything particularly extravagent on the page - but what it would have would be an easy to navigate user experience. The website uses .mobi as it's URL extension (as opposed to .com etc) so that the mobile device browser knows which site to find and display.
